چکیده
Strengthening of masonry walls using Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRP) sheets have shown to improve the lateral (in-plane and out-of-plane) resistance deformation characteristics. While improvements in shear flexural resistances FRP strengthened are well understood, their simultaneous influence on compression is not explored. Therefore, this study aimed understand contribution Carbon Polymer (CFRP) strengthening concentric eccentric strength characteristics wallettes. Two types clay bricks were used construct wallettes with a commonly cement-sand mortar. In total, 36 experimentally tested under compression. The tests results presented discussed terms observed failure modes, compressive strengths axial derived. CFRP mainly attributed by crushing masonry. transverse stain readings confirm that composite action exists Further, only about 10–20 %. stiffness ductility has improved (20–30 %) compared un-strengthened Therefore it can be said that, although application resistances, does significantly enhance ductility, as was governed crushing.

Behaviour of FRP strengthened concrete columns under eccentric compression loading
This paper presents results of testing eccentrically loaded columns externally wrapped with two types of materials. Six cylindrical (205 mm diameter and 925 mm height) plain columns were cast and tested. Half of the columns were wrapped with GFRP and the other half with CFRP. All columns were tested by applying an axial load at 50 mm eccentricity. In each group (GFRP or CFRP wrapped) of columns...
متن کاملModeling of FRP-Strengthened Infill Masonry Structures
This paper presents an analytical approach to describe the behavior and mode of failure of infill masonry structures strengthened with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) materials. The approach is used to simulate the response of strengthened infill masonry walls under the effect of out-of-plane uniformly distributed pressure simulating wind pressure. The approach includes a finite element analysis...
متن کاملPush over Analysis of Steel Strengthened Masonry
Strengthening of un-reinforced masonry (URM) structures to improve its seismic performance is not only well recognized among the research community but also getting attention of practicing engineers around the globe. The estimation of lateral capacity and performance of masonry becomes complex because of heterogeneous nature of its constituent materials and other associated problems. Heterogene...
متن کاملBond Behavior of Cfrp Strengthened Steel Structures
Recent research has focused on rehabilhation and strengthening of steel structures and bridges using fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) materials. The bond behavior of FRP materials to steel structures is quite different from lhat of concrete structures. Preliminary test results showed the occurrence of very high bond stresses for most strengthening applications due to the amount of strengthening r...
متن کاملExperimental Characteristics of Dry Stack Masonry under Compression and Shear Loading
The behavior of dry stack masonry (DSM) is influenced by the interaction of the infill with the frame (especially the joints between bricks), which requires further research. This study investigates the compression and shear behaviors of DSM. First, a series of compression tests were carried out on both masonry prism with mortar (MP_m) and DSM prism (MP_ds). The failure mode of each prism was d...
